The Union County Genealogical Society was chartered on June of 1976 with 41 members.
Mission
The Purpose of the Society includes the following aspects:
1. To bring together interested persons for discussion and interchange of information in the field of genealogy.
2. To foster the study of methods of research in genealogy and family history.3. To assist individual members and others in research in genealogy and family history.
4. To issue appropriate publications.
5. To collect and preserve appropriate source material.
6. To assist the library in developing adequate genealogical collections.
7. To seek by all appropriate means the generation of greater interest in and support of genealogical study by the public as a whole.
8. To aid and support those worthy organizations who are endeavoring to preserve places and materials of historical value.
